Hayfork's goal is to emphasize the importance of farming in winemaking.
We strongly believe that the hands of the farmer in the field lay the foundation necessary to produce a quality wine. And we are proud to be part of a family whose past is deeply rooted in the soils of our land and valley. Our farming heritage runs deep, as Haley’s great-great-great-grandparents, John and Elvy Lewelling, farmed the St. Helena family ranch beginning in 1864. Whether growing walnuts, prunes, pears, or grapes, we have been continuously farming our land for six generations.
We are woman made and farmer-owned.
Hayfork produces under 1,000 cases of wine annually and we source grapes from the family’s Lewelling Ranch in St. Helena, the Kenefick Ranch in Calistoga, the Shypoke Vineyard in Calistoga, and the Johnson Family Ranch in Redwood Valley, all of which are family-owned and posses heritage vineyards. Haley is inspired by her strong connection to the home ranch and the wild reaches of Napa County— she is deeply tied to land where she grew up and is now raising her kids. She believes that less is more when it comes to winemaking, practices a restrained use of new oak, and allows her wines to evolve naturally, with minimal intervention.
